Current Needs

  • We need your help writing thank you notes for teachers at Ervin Elementary and the Hickman Mills 6 & 7 Grade and 8th Grade Centers. See Deshae Betts or email info@consumingfirekc.com to get your list of names. We have close to 300 notes to write before May 1, but together we can make sure each teacher gets a personal note of encouragement.

  • Lined notebook paper & pencils for the Hickman Mills 8th Grade Center. Please give your donations with the greeters. Thank you!

Who changed your life as a child?

Consuming Fire Ministries has joined non-profits, business owners, community leaders, and educators in the Caring For Kids partnership, and we are so excited to let you know what's going on and how you can join in both the fun and the impact. During the kickoff celebration of 2022, a man who graduated from Hickman Mills remembered leaving the very school we were meeting in, and planned to never return. Yet year later, there he stood, the product of teachers, coaches, mentors, and a community who cared. His plea was to join him in providing the same support for another young person who would one day take his place in reaching yet another generation.

Please join us in supporting teachers and touching children's lives with the love of Jesus. Here are just a few projects you could participate in.

School Events

We have standing invitations to attend parent meetings and community programs at the 6th & 7th grade center, 8th grade center, and Ervin Elementary. You can check back here for any upcoming events and details on how to get involved.

STEAM Night @ the 8th Grade Center | January 30, 5:30 AM - 7:30 AM. Details to sign up as a volunteer will be posted here once it is available from the school.

Business Sponsors

Do you own a business or work for a company that loves giving to the community? Find out how your job can participate at a Caring for Kids Lunch & Learn. You can Register Here.

Foster Grandparents

Children today have often faced more trauma than adults realize. Ervin Elementary is looking for Foster Grandparents to visit classrooms where they will both give and receive love. Foster Grandparents get free lunch and a small stipend in addition to lots of love and fun with the kids. You must pass a background check with the district. email info@consumingfirekc.com or talk to Esther Lott or DeShae Betts on how to get involved.

Mentors

The Middle School Centers & Ervin Elementary are all looking for mentors. Click here for more information and to sign up. Please let Sis Esther or Bro Darrell know if you are signing up so they can let the schools know you are with Consuming Fire Ministries.

Donate Prizes, Incentives

Kids today LOVE fidget toys. Pop-its, fidget spinners, stress balls, they love them all! And for teachers and administrators, these small prizes can save the day. It's great to be able to give a small reward to a child who worked extra hard, made the difficult choice to do the right thing, or maybe just had a birthday. Please see DeShae Betts for more information.

Encourage a Teacher

Several times a year, we provide snack carts, coffee bars, and notes of encouragement for the teachers at our adopted schools. Stay tuned for the next day of encouragement.
