1 Peter 3:1

In the same way, wives, submit to your husbands; so that even if some of them do not believe the Word, they will be won over by your conduct, without your saying anything, as they see your respectful and pure behavior. Your beauty should not consist in externals such as fancy hairstyles, gold jewelry or what you wear; rather, let it be the inner character of your heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit. In God’s sight this is of great value.

1 Peter 3:1-4

First, we honor our spouse through speach. We don't win them over by our appearance or though being 'nice nasty.' It's not through tearing down.

The heartbeat of the marriage is protected by the wife. The husband protects the house, but the wife is responsible for the atmosphere. The flow of revelation comes to the men, but flow of the revelation is blocked because the rib has been crushed. She doesn't know her role or she has been devalued in her role.

The wife cannnot fill her husband if she is not being filled herself.

Three of the most difficult words for a man to say is, "I need help." But God created a helpmate for man. The wife's role is to help, to produce something greater than what was originally put in her hands. Yet she cannot do this if she is not given her place at her husband's side as his 'rib' to protect the heart and lungs, the life and breath, of the marriage.
